Obama's New Pen Pal

President Obama received to letters from a ten year old girl who has two same sex parents. She has two father figures in her life and she wrote to Obama thanking him for his position on same sex marriages. She told him how kids at her school make fun of her two fathers saying it is gross that they love eachother. He wrote back to her thanking her for her appreciation for having him as President. She said she thginks he makes a great President. Obama also mentioned how no two families in America look alike. There is so much diversity in this country, that is something to be proud of. It is refreshing to see Obama giving psotive encouragement to his young supporters.

How women played a role in the election

The 2012 election was incredibly close as far as the numbers went. This election had Americans on the edge of their seat the entire time. When looking at the numbers it is extremely easy to depict who helped Obama take lead in the end. An incredibly large amount of his voters were women. They were the ones who determined who would win this election. We see now that 44 percent of the votes in ohio( the state who in the end determined the winner) came from women. It is now very visible that women can completely sway important events like this in politics. They have been the ones to determine who the winner is. A record 20 women will be holding seats in the us senate next year.

Some people think Obama is a different kind of Christian

Obama may be the nation's first black President, but he has also made himself recognized by being such a religious pioneer. He expands who can be a Chrsitian by challenging religious rights. He also shows us who can be President. However, although he often brings up religion, some people feel that it is the wrong kind of religion. He has even invoked Jesus to support same sex marriage. He often brings up how the Bible tells us to care for the poor. Although he does speak about Christianity, some aren't loving how he does it.

Lack of jobs in Swaziland forces women into prostitution

I figured this would be an appropriate topic to cover since we recently watched a video on Swaziland. Women in Swziland say it is nearly impossible to find a job right now in Swaziland. The living conditions are horrible, and many peole are without food. Women feel that their only other option in order to be able to provide food for themselves is prostitution. This is also incredibly scary considering one in every four people there has HIV/AIDS. This is very unfortunate and so sad to see what some people put themselves through just to have food.

Big Fundraising month for Romney

The month of September, Rstore our future, a  PAC group supportive of Romney raised a total of 16.6 million dollars. They took in a lot more this month than last month. Charlie Spies who is the group founder told a reporter that most of the money that was made came from the day after the October third debate. This group has mostly focused on the Midwest.

FBI stops NY Federal Reserve Terror Plot

A man was alleged of attempting to blow up the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. However, none of us were ever in any danger because his two "Accomplices were actually undercover FBI agents. He believed that these two agents had traveled overseas to meet with al Qaeda in order to get their approval for the New York plot. This man is looking to face long odds in court. I feel he should be given a terrible punishment. If he was looking to harm that many people, he should suffer.

Ann Romney's speech

Lately Ann Romney has been trying her best to promote her husband's soft side to the public. She explains he is a very compassionate and caring man who is extremely sympathetic towards others. When bringing up these topics, he is trying to persuade female voters to vote for him. Ann spoke of a strong relationship he formed with a dying 14 year old boy.

New Voting Measures Taking Place

It is said that nearly half the states in our nation have new measures that could prevent a large amount of Latinos to vote this November. There are 23 different states have now required people to bring a photo id which will be checked while they are voting. This will cause some issues for some Latinos. With this they are trying to prvent voter fraud. I feel that voter id's will not be the solution to voter fraud in any way. We must all be given equal rights and as Americans we all have the right to vote.
